The Pier of Burgas

The symbol of Burgas — a 300+ metre pedestrian pier extending into the sea.

One of the symbols of the city of Burgas and a favourite walking spot for both locals and visitors is the Burgas Pier. Though it does not connect two shores, it connects people with the sea.

Stretching nearly 300 metres out into the Black Sea, the Burgas Pier draws tourists from near and far. Its romance enchants visitors not only with the unique view across the boundless sea, but also keeps the memory of countless loving eyes and first kisses.

Built in 1936, the pier originally had a metal frame and a platform of wooden planks. A special stone staircase connected it to the panoramic alley of the Sea Garden and the Sea Casino. In the 1980s, the old pier was reconstructed with a massive concrete structure.
