Landmarks
Sinemorets is about nature and views more than museums — the Veleka mouth, the rocky Cape Kastrich and the Strandzha forests are the true attractions.
Mouth of the Veleka river
The symbol of Sinemorets — the Veleka carries its dark waters into the Black Sea across a long sand spit. The view from the high northern shore is perhaps the most photographed landscape in southern Bulgaria.
Cape Kastrich
A rocky cape right next to Butamyata with caves and traces of an ancient fort. A panoramic footpath loops the cape and leads to hidden coves — perfect for a picnic and sunset.
St. Nicholas village church
A small church in the village centre, built by refugees from Eastern Thrace in the late 1920s. It preserves Greek and Old Bulgarian inscriptions from before the population exchange.
Boat trips up the Veleka
From the jetty at the mouth, flat-bottomed boats run one-hour trips 7 km upstream — through pristine reed beds, with views of birds, turtles and otters.
Silistar protected area
6 km south of Sinemorets — a beach strip protected since 1992, with dunes, oak forest and rare flora. Reached by dirt road — perfect for wild camping and sunsets.
Strandzha Nature Park
Sinemorets is a main gateway to Bulgaria's largest nature park — 1,161 km² of forests, rivers and rare plants. Nearby are Balgari, Kosti and Brodilovo, known for their fire-dancing traditions on 3–4 June.
