“Fatherland” (Poland, Germany, Italy, France, 2026, 82 min) is Paweł Pawlikowski’s film about Thomas Mann and his daughter Erika, a writer, actress and racing driver. In the summer of 1949 the two travel through the country they left 16 years earlier, from American-controlled Frankfurt to Soviet-controlled Weimar, and the journey confronts Mann with the price of exile and the rift in his own family.
