- 24 Mitropolit Simeon Street, Burgas
At the end of the 19th century, Burgas — with its diverse ethnic make-up and its especially favourable development as a major port on the western Black Sea coast — became an open, cosmopolitan city. The building was erected in 1909 to a design by the Italian architect Ricardo Toscani. Its style is eclectic, with elements of Neoclassicism and Romanticism alongside Neo-Byzantine and Oriental/Moorish architectural and decorative features.
It functioned as a synagogue until the Second World War. It was restored in 1929 and 1967. Since 1967 it has been an art gallery.
A monument of culture. The interior space has been adapted to serve as a municipal art gallery — the Petko Zadgorski Art Gallery.
