Atanasovsko Lake
A hypersaline pink lake and nature reserve — one of the most recognisable landscapes around Burgas.
Atanasovsko Lake is a hypersaline coastal lagoon, part of the Burgas Lakes complex and a protected reserve since 1980. Salt extraction, dating back to the early 20th century, keeps the pools' signature pink hue alive thanks to halophilic organisms. The lake is a key migration stopover on the Via Pontica flyway — flamingos, pelicans and hundreds of other species can be seen here. In summer, the liman-mud pools are open to visitors.
