Alyosha Monument

A historical monument in central Burgas.

The Monument to the Soviet Army — known as Alyosha — stands in the centre of the city of Burgas. It was built between 1952 and 1953.

The composition consists of a Soviet soldier with his left hand raised to the sky, together with bronze reliefs depicting scenes of the welcoming of Soviet troops in Burgas in 1944.

The Monument to the Soviet Army (often called "Alyosha" or "Alyoshata") in Burgas depicts a Soviet soldier with his left hand raised to the sky. Its height is about 18 metres. The bronze reliefs depict scenes from the Second World War and the welcoming of Soviet troops in Burgas. It stands on the central Burgas square "Troykata". It was built in 1952–1953. The authors are architect Minko Minkov and sculptors Vasil Radoslavov and Aneta Atanasova.
