Quiet family shore

Sarafovo Beach

In the eponymous district 8 km north of the centre, next to Burgas Airport — about 1.5 km of sand and shallow water. Seaside restaurants, ideal for children.

Sarafovo Beach lies 8 km north of the centre, in the eponymous Burgas district — a former village founded by settlers from Bosilegrad and merged with the city in 1974. The beach strip stretches about 1.5 km, between the mouth of the Otmanliyska river in the south and the lighthouse in the north.

The sand is fine and grey, volcanic in origin — rich in magnetite, giving the beach a faint purple tint in zones of higher concentration. The water stays shallow about 50 m out, making it ideal for young children. Two guarded sections with sunbeds operate in the centre, surrounded by a handful of family-run restaurants serving fresh fish.

Burgas Airport lies just 2 km to the west — planes on approach fly directly over the beach, an extra attraction for children. A pedestrian promenade links Sarafovo with the North Beach and the city centre.
