Landmarks

The peninsula holds an unusual mix of ancient monuments, mediaeval church architecture, mineral springs and a nature reserve of global importance.

St. George's Monastery

An active monastery from 1856, known for its miracle-working chapel and healing mineral spring. Located at the peninsula's northern end.

Thracian Beehive Tomb

A unique 2nd–4th century AD Roman monument — a circular chamber 11.6 m in diameter and 5.5 m high, supported by a hollow column at its centre, with a 22-metre dromos. Probably the heroon of a wealthy Anchialus family; it lies about 1 km from the centre.

Pomorie Lake

A hyper-saline lagoon of about 8 km², a Natura 2000 site. A nesting ground for pelicans and a major migration stop for flamingos and over 250 bird species. A well-laid walking trail.

Salt Museum

The only museum of its kind in the Balkans — it tells the story of sea-salt production by the ancient all-solar method, still in use. Located next to working salt pans.

Old town and seafront

The town's Revival-era quarter, with narrow cobbled lanes, wooden houses and a fishing pier. The seafront walk links the Central Beach to the monastery — about 2 km.

Wine tour & local cellar

The region is one of Bulgaria's oldest wine areas — tastings and tours at "Black Sea Gold" (the country's largest winery) and dozens of small cellars.
