Transport
Nessebar is easy to reach from Burgas by public transport, car, ferry or taxi.
Bus
Regular intercity buses depart from Burgas South Bus Station to Nessebar and Sunny Beach — about 30 services a day during the summer season, from approximately 06:10 to 22:40. The journey takes around 1 hour 10 minutes (with stops in Pomorie and Ravda). Tickets cost roughly EUR 3–4 one way.
By car
From Burgas, take first-class road I-9 north via Pomorie — about 35 km, 35–45 minutes depending on traffic. From Sofia, use the A1 'Trakia' motorway to Burgas and continue along I-9 (around 406 km in total). Vehicle access to the Old Town is restricted for non-residents; use the paid car parks immediately next to the harbour.
Boat
Tourist boats leave the Magazia pier in Burgas for Nessebar and St. Anastasia Island in summer — around 70 minutes each way. Tickets at the harbour ticket office.
Taxi
A taxi from Burgas to the New Town in Nessebar costs around €20–€25 by meter. Confirm the fare before departure and use licensed cars from one of the major companies.
Getting around the old town
The old town is explored on foot — most streets are cobbled and pedestrian. Wear comfortable shoes and plan 2–3 hours for a walk.
